Background

I was born and raise in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which sits on a river delta and gets too much water most years and too little the rest. My dissertation is about global droughts and pluvals and how they're being shaped by natural variability and human influence.

Most of that work happens at Lamont-Doherty, building datasets and atlases people can actually use instead of just citing. Outside of research I teach a lot more than I planned to, and I currently run the Arts and Sciences Graduate Council, which mostly means going to meetings so other grad students don't have to.
